Rajasthan, Pali Intro.
Set in the Marwar region of western India's Rajasthan State, the town of Pali is known as the 'Industrial City'. A centre for trade over the last 1,000 years, modern day Pali is famed for its textile industries, including its cotton mills, as well as its other industries including cement, chemicals, marble and stone crushing, agricultural machinery manufacturing and tanneries. In the midst of the vast expanse of industrial estates is Pali city centre, the oldest part of town, with a museum of Rajasthani culture and tradition, beautiful gardens, the stunning Somnath Mandir temple dedicated to the god Shiva and many other beautiful temples and historic buildings as well as Pali hotels catering for the many visitors who come here either on business or to explore the oldest part of the city and the surrounding traditional villages. A unique feature of the town is its step wells, Baoris, each with its own carved decoration and design tracing the architectural history of the ancient town.
