Kyoto, Sakyo Ku intro. Sakyo Ku is a ward in the city of Kyoto in Japan. It is in the northeast of the city and has many temples, shines and museums. There are also mountains in the north of ward, which give it a beautiful backdrop. Ginkaku-ji is a Zen Buddhist temple that was established in 1460 by a Zen Buddhist monk named Ashikaga Yoshimasa. The temple was originally his retirement villa but he made arrangements for his home to become a Zen temple after he died. The temple is very beautiful and ornate, with some lovely gardens. The sand garden has a large pile of sand in the shape of Mount Fuji and is beautifully landscaped. Sakyo Ku is a great part of Kyoto to stay in and there are many Sakyo Ku hotels in the area as well as restaurants and excellent transport links to other parts of the city.
