Moto Hakone intro. Hakone is situated within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park in Japan, which contains the famous Mount Fuji. An ideal place to stay in Hakone is Moto Hakone, which can be found on the shores of Lake Ashinoko. It is a beautiful location with fantastic views of Mount Fuji. There are many Moto Hakone hotels here as well as great restaurants and transport links to other parts of the region. Mount Fuji is the biggest draw for visitors to Hakone. This active volcano is 3,776 metres high and the highest mountain in Japan. Its snow-capped peak and perfectly symmetrical cone has become an icon in Japanese art for many centuries. In the national park around Fuji, it is possible to visit hot springs and hike in the spectacular countryside. A great way to see the park and get closer to the mountain is via the Hakone Tozan Railway. Small trains leave from Hakone and wind through the stunning scenery to the town of Gora.
