Raleigh Apex hotels map
Raleigh, Apex intro. Located in the southwestern outskirts of the city of Raleigh is the town of Apex, one of the city's many commuter suburbs. The town was built up around the Chatham Railroad and its name came from the fact that it was located on the highest point in the area. Today, Apex is a quiet, historic commuter suburb of Raleigh, North Carolina. Apex hotels are mostly located off Route 1, which leads straight to the city centre. The historic downtown area still exudes the feeling of an old railroad town, with its many buildings dating back to the 1800s. The main landmark is the Apex train depot and the museum located here showcases the history of the town. There is a scenic railroad ride worth taking on the New Hope Valley Railway. Cultural events are showcased at the Academy for the Performing Arts and shopping can be enjoyed at the Maglam Shopping Mall, off Route 64.
