Williamsburg, Outskirts Intro.
Williamsburg, Virginia is an important historical community located in a region of sublime natural beauty. Thanks to the city's compact size, one can easily reach the key central attractions from Williamsburg hotels while enjoying excellent access to the many wooded, water sports and military areas. Interstate 64 is the most important highway in the area, and it affords quick access to Richmond, to the north, as well as Newport, Hampton and Norfolk, to the south. Both Camp Peary and Yorktown Naval Weapons Station are just minutes away by car. Highway 199 provides easy connections to several big retail developments, as well as Busch Gardens, which lies to the south. Williamsburg Jamestown Airport is a few miles away but most air travel will probably be taken from the international airports at Newport or Richmond. There is no shortage of golf courses in the area and plenty of waterfront regions with attractive parkland. The Amtrak station provides access to regular passenger services.
