Livorno, City Centre intro. A busy and popular port city located on Italy's Ligurian coast, Livorno enjoys considerable traffic from cruise ships, which drop anchor here to let passengers enjoy a number of regional destinations. Hotels in Livorno City Centre put the few significant points of interest in the immediate area within easy reach but you'll need to travel a bit to see most of the area's attractions. One thing you can easily enjoy is the fantastic local seafood, which is among the best in the country. Be sure to enjoy the city's strong Renaissance heritage with visits to art galleries like the Museo Civico Giovanni Fattori and the Museo Mascagnano. It's also easy to check out the canals in the area, which give the city a mini-Venice feel. While touring the canals, be sure to see Monumento dei Quattro, one of the city's key monuments, which is found at Piazza Giuseppe. At the other end of old centre is Piazza della Reppublica, another piece of Livorno. The central railway station is a few hundred metres along Viale Giosue Carducci. The nearby port offers a huge range of ferry services. For flights, head south for about 30 minutes by road to reach the international airport at Pisa.
