Stockholm Djurgarden hotels map
Stockholm, Djurgarden intro. The green island of Djurgarden, near central Stockholm, is popular among both locals and tourists. It is a calm oasis and has been declared royal land since way back in the 15th century. It is an excellent area to take a stroll, especially around the Blockhusudden and Djurgardsbrunn canal. Djurgarden is also where several of Stockholm's top museums and attractions are located as well as many enjoyable restaurants and cafes. The island can be reached by taking the Djurgarden ferry service, which departs from Gamla, and then by catching the tram from nearby Norrmalmstorg or by taking a bus. One of the main attractions here is the Vasa Museum. The Vasa is the world's only preserved 17th century ship, with more than 95 per cent of it being the original. Given their ideal location, Djurgarden hotels are among the most expensive in the city, with some of the best known hotels being based here.
