Brisbane, Brookfield intro.Home to more than 4,400 Brisbane residents, Brookfield is a rural suburb that is best-known for the three-day Brookfield Show each May. At this time of year, more than 20,000 visitors swell the permanent population in order to enjoy fairground rides, food stalls and arena performances. A number of contests take place, with visiting chefs, farmers and artists competing and display their skills. The suburb also hosts an annual ball, catering to more than 800 participants in some years. Unsurprisingly, luxurious Brookfield hotels can be fully-booked at these times, so it is well worth reserving a room ahead of time. Many accommodations offer fantastic views of both the nearby city and valley. Suburban development dates back as far as the 1860s and as such, there is a number of historical landmarks here. The best of these include the 1880s cemetery and the 1930s Town Hall. Meanwhile, Creekside Park splits the suburb into northern and southern sections, offering locals and visitors alike the chance to enjoy outdoor recreation. It takes around 25 minutes to get here from central Brisbane by taking the Western Motorway (M5) followed by Moggill Road.
