Tamworth, City Centre intro. Located near the coastal area in New South Wales, is Tamworth. It is dubbed the country music centre of Australia and hosts the second largest country music festival in the world; the Tamworth Country Music Festival takes lace in January every year and attracts music lovers from all over. Visitors will find Tamworth city centre hotels clustered around Oxley Highway and Bridge Street, the two main thoroughfares of the city. The Peel River flows through the city centre and is flanked on either side with parks. Locals like to enjoy sports, walking, cycling or other activities in the Bicentennial Park. Agriculture remains an important part of the city's economy, and visiting some of the specialist farms and ranches is a must - whether it's horses, olives, alpaca, berries or buffalo they produce. Most farms are located off King George Avenue, near the river. To celebrate the fact that this city was the first to be electrified in Australia, the city established the Tamworth Power Station Museum. It explains about the history of rural electricity and the power station that was built to meet electricity needs.
