Port of Spain, Maraval intro. Maraval is a lively village in western Trinidad, midway between the capital city of Port of Spain and the north coast of the island. Maraval is nestled in a narrow valley created by the Paramin Hills. The area has gained a reputation for the quality of its nightlife and dining venues. Among cuisines that can be enjoyed here are Indian, Middle Eastern, Italian and Creole as well as gourmet coffees and pastries. Nightlife venues on the main thoroughfare on Saddle Road offer something for all tastes, with several featuring live bands that play until the small hours. For golfers, the course at St Andrew's is an added bonus. Maraval hotels are dotted around the district. Many visitors choose to stay here as it is a convenient base for exploring the capital and beaches such as Maracas on the northern shoreline. The museum and River Estate Water Wheel are a one-kilometre hike away through the Paramin.
