Vinh hotels map
Vinh intro. An ancient citadel is just one of many historic landmarks which once stood in the present day northern Vietnamese city of Vinh. Nowadays, most of the architecture of this industrial city situated halfway between Hue and Hanoi, in Vietnam's narrowest part, is more reminiscent of Communist-era Eastern Europe than Southeast Asia. The East German government helped rebuild the city after it was demolished during the Vietnam War. Vinh hotels, many of which have three or four-star ratings, are among the city's most impressive and beautiful buildings. One of the few structures which survived the war bombings is the Hong Son Temple, where a significant festival occurs on the eighth lunar month's 20th day. The pine-covered Quyet Mountain stands at the city's edge and visitors must climb 400 steps before admiring the city view from the mountain summit. Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum commemorates an uprising against French rule during the 1930s, while most sunbathers at nearby Cua Lo beach come from Hanoi.
