Chattanooga intro. Chattanooga is a southern Tennessee city sited on the River Tennessee, adjacent to the US state's border with Georgia. The boundary is surrounded by pictorial mountains and offers a plethora of attractions for visitors. The city centre in the area is beside the waterfront and houses a large choice of Chattanooga hotels, shops and dining establishments. Tourist draws within range of these establishments include Terminal Station's massive model train set, the Creative Discovery Museum and the Hunter Museum. Warner Park and Chattanooga Zoo are nearby. The Tennessee Riverwalk runs beside the river for more than 10 miles and is a popular destination for hikers. The North Shore precinct, across the river is packed with boutiques and chic restaurants. Using accommodations as a base Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, Raccoon Mountain Caverns, Ruby Falls and Lookout Mountain are good daytrips. The rail museum offers the chance of a trip aboard a heritage steam-drawn train. A cable car climbs Lookout Mountain and gives access to panoramic views and Chattanooga Battle Museum.
