Hutchinson Island South intro. One of a string of barrier islands on the southwestern coast of Florida, north of Miami, Hutchinson Island is a stunning beach resort backed by a deep body of water that gives it a true island feel. Further back from the resort, on the mainland proper, is the attractive Savannas Preserve State Park, which includes a recreation area of interlocking lakes that makes a perfect spot for walking and picnics. Port St Lucie-River Park close by means this is a lush area of Florida that has not been overdeveloped. The main attraction here is the long, sandy beach, popular with inland-living locals keen to escape the interior of the state during the summer and other holiday periods. One of the best spots to unwind is Jensen Beach Park, to the south of the town. Hutchinson Island hotels are mostly in the high-end category and situated close to the main causeway, and almost all come with great views of the water.
