Harrow intro. The Greater London suburb of Pinner lies in the London borough of Harrow, although until 1965 it was part of the ancient and now defunct county of Middlesex. Originally a tiny hamlet first recorded in 1231 AD, it boasts an attractive, laid-back high street, a 14th century parish church and a reputation for expensive housing costs. East End Farm Cottage is its earliest dwelling, dating from the 15th century. Its claim to local fame is its annual street fair, first held in 1336 and still going in Pinner's historic core, attracting a good number of visitors from outside the borough. Good road, over and underground rail, and bus access to the centre of London benefits both commuters and visitors staying in Pinner hotels. The Metropolitan Line underground system, one of the earliest constructed, runs to the city centre and an overground station is found at nearby Hatch End. Pretty Pinner Memorial Park boasts a large lake, and the area has the lowest crime statistics in the Greater London region.
