Fermanagh intro. Fermanagh, bordering with the Republic of Ireland, is a county of Northern Ireland. It is a beautiful county, with an abundance of natural beauty, old Irish traditions and a rich history and culture. Both Upper and Lower Lough Erne are located with the county, and there are many types of hotels in Fermanagh around these lakes as well as in quiet, more rural areas. The cities and large towns of the county, such as Enniskillen and Lisnaskea, offer the most attractions for sightseers as well as the best tourist amenities. There are plenty of picturesque villages in the county too, many of which have views of the large lakes that make up much of this lovely Irish county. Enniskillen, centrally situated in the county, features Enniskillen Castle as well as other major sights like Cole's Monument, St Macartin’s Cathedral and the Ardhowen Theatre. The town appeals to anglers, with Loch Erne being a major fishing centre.
