Lochgilphead intro. Situated at the bottom of the attractive Loch Gilp, the town of Lochgilphead in Scotland is a tiny but picturesque community in the Argyll and Bute region, for which Lochgilphead is the administrative centre. Hotels in Lochgilphead can be found in a variety of budgets and styles, from guesthouses and bed and breakfasts to larger establishments. Despite having a population of only 3,000, Lochgilphead offers a good range of amenities. From Lochgilphead hotels, visitors can enjoy the local sports centre and swimming pool, a nine hole golf course and a hydrotherapy centre. The real attractions, however, are the local architecture, the scenic Kilmory Castle and the surrounding countryside, all of which are easily reached from hotels in Lochgilphead. The castle, actually a large house from the 19th century, is located just outside the town, along the A83 to the south. The A83 is also notable for offering dramatic views, no matter which direction drivers choose to drive in.
