Kazan intro. Located in the central-west region of Russia, along the banks of the Volga River, is the city of Kazan. Currently, Kazan is one of the top destinations in Russia, and welcomes both Russian and international tourists yearly. As of 2005, Kazan established an international airport for travellers, however, flights primarily fly through Moscow before arriving into Kazan. An overnight train is also available from Moscow. Recent expansions have seen the erection of new hotels in Kazan. However, there are still plenty of Kazan hotels to select for tourists looking for comfort, elegance, or simply just somewhere to stay for a night. Most Kazan hotels are located a short distance from the city's main attractions. Some of Kazan’s main highlights include the Kazan Kremlin, an Aqua Park, several casinos, Bauman Street’s shopping district, religious structures such as chapels and monasteries, the State Museum of Fine Arts, and a variety of theaters or ballets
