Wilderness hotels map
Wilderness intro. Wilderness is an historically signifcant town on the coast of South Africa. It is located in the south of the country and was home to former South African President P.W Botha until he passed away in the year 2006. Wilderness hotels are popular with travellers passing through towards either George or Knysna. Hotels in Wilderness are often connected with the famous steam train that arrives here via a spectacular vaulted stone bridge over the Kaaimans River. The train is called the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe train and it is a very popular tourist attraction as well as a practical method of transport into or out of Wilderness. Hotels in Wilderness often overlook the beach here, and this part of South Africa is known as one of the country’s finest surf breaks and many visitors join the locals for long meandering walks along the seemingly endless beach here every night, just before sunset.
