Nelspruit intro. Nelspruit hotels often sit on the banks of the Crocodile River, which runs directly through the city which is the capital of the Mpumalanga province. This area of South Africa was known as Eastern Transvaal until a name change in 1995 that restored an original African language place name. Hotels in Nelspruit offer good access to nearby animal reserves and nature parks and so elephants and lions can be seen in the wild very near to here. Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city, is located approximately 330kms to the west of Nelspruit. Cattle grazing and other farming industries are well established here. Nelspruit hotels may often have macadamia and even avocado plants growing in their gardens or in the surrounding hills and plains. This is a verdant and fertile area of South Africa well known for its excellent climate and alluvial soils. The city is served by two airports, one for international flights and another that serves domestic and regional destinations.
