Renmark intro. Renmark is the main town in South Australia's Riverland region. Located on the banks of the Murray River, Riverland appeals to those interested in fine food and wine, combined with outdoor activities. Travellers staying in the town can choose from a range of accommodation, including houseboats on the river. However, just as many guests choose to stay at one of the excellent Renmark hotels. It is worth noting that accommodation can get crowded each October, when the Renmark Rose Festival takes place. Those staying near the river have easy access to Riverland canoe tours. Those joining a tour can enjoy exploring the Murray River's backwaters, accompanied by an experienced local guide. Those who prefer dry land can go bushwalking by the river instead, where the only sounds are those of the resident wildlife. Nearer the town, the river is used for sailing, fishing and waterskiing. Most of the town's commercial activity centres on the wide, European-style streets between Stuart Highway and Ral Ral Avenue. However, there is also a selection of bars and restaurants scattered around the atmospheric lagoons, situated in the north of the town.
