Tennant Creek intro.Tennant Creek is a remote town in the heart of Australia's Northern Territory. Outback Airlines operates regular flights here from Alice Springs, while the Ghan train service between Darwin and Adelaide also stops here. The town's location allows travellers to have a traditional Outback experience, featuring history, culture and some of the Northern Territory's most stunning scenery. Some of the best views of the town and its surrounding areas are from Bill Allen Lookout, especially around sunset. The lookout is around two miles east of the town centre, past the Visitor Information Centre on Peko Road. Visitors can learn more about local history at the Tennant Creek Museum, housed in Tuxworth Fulwood House. The museum features exhibits which describe the town's rich mining history, such as a mine reconstruction and a miner's camp. Guests staying at Tennant Creek hotels have the chance to experience traditional aboriginal song at the Winanjjikari Music Centre on Peko Road. Musicians who work at the centre are friendly and keen to chat about visitors' own cultures as well as their own.
