Taveuni Island hotels map
Taveuni Island intro. Nicknamed 'Garden Island' by the locals, Fiji's tranquil Taveuni Island boasts an intriguing blend of unbeatable natural beauty and laid-back old world charm and resembles the Hawaii of five decades ago. The island is even home to a considerable American population attracted to its tourism options and yesteryear ambience. Despite its jaw-dropping beauty, and mostly due the limited and expensive transportation services from Nadi, the island isn't overcrowded with noisy tourists and retains its authentic atmosphere. Most of the visiting tourists here arrive by small aircraft, many of them bringing along their hiking gear, scuba diving equipment or wedding dress. Several budget-friendly Taveuni Island hotels with outdoor swimming pools can be found on the west coast which also houses a luxurious first-class island resort. The west coast's most popular tourist feature is Waitavala Sliding Rocks. However, most holidaymakers are drawn by Rainbow Reef, which can be accessed easily from here. Bouma National Heritage Park is situated in the island's rugged eastern part.
