Santo Andre intro. Santo Andre is sited on the River Tamanduatei in southeast Brazil. It is an industrial region midway between the country's biggest city, Sao Paulo, and the Atlantic coastline. Sao Paulo's city centre is around 20 km from the area. Hotels in Santo Andre are mostly located on Avenue Pereira Barreto, one of the city's main thoroughfares. A smaller choice of pensions and establishments is found next to the railway station. The district boasts good eateries and nightlife establishments. The properties make a good base for exploring the big city attractions of Sao Paulo or going fishing at the Billings Reservoir, south of the city. Sao Paulo offers magnificent architecture and museums, including Sao Paulo Museum of Art, which boasts a vast collection of Brazilian and Western art. The Serra do Mar Mountain Range, between the reservoir and the coast, boasts stunning unspoilt views. Numerous trekking points cross the range offering access to vantage points, and glimpses of diverse fauna and flora.
