Overview
DirectRooms is about providing the real deal. We compare 100’s of hotel sites in one easy search, offering consumers the best, unbiased choice of hotel deals with no hidden costs. Directrooms is based in Phuket, Thailand and has been online since January 2000. DirectRooms currently operates in 144 countries:
DirectRooms.com data-driven technology draws over 1,000,000 monthly visitors and over 5,500,000 page views. Our additional websites generate a further 300,000+ visitors a month, primarily through organic search engine traffic.
Our reach is global and our focus is obtaining higher conversion rates. By volume and in descending order - Europe, Asia, Pacific, Middle East and North America generate the most traffic.
DirectRooms.com has three full time directors with backgrounds in IT consultancy, software programming and customer service (see Management Team). Our approach is realistic and not seen through rose tinted glasses. All development and support is carried out in-house by a team of programmers and software specialists.
We operate a 24-7 operation and since it’s founding remains a profitable enterprise.
A bit of history and business resilience
We own our offices, all office equipment, computers and vehicles. This keeps our operating costs low and has allowed us to deal with unforeseen major incidents that affected world travel business such as 9/11, SARS, 2004 tsunami, terrorism incidents, and the 2009 world economic recession among others. With security bonds in place with partners and suppliers, we value a very high degree of importance to resilience into our business planning.
We have the following in place
An off-site back-up data storage facility with daily transfers. A backup location installed to enable essential service to resume within 6 hours of a major disaster. The ability to set up a fully operational alternative office within 48 hours with backup site servers and data storage facilities.
We love our staff
We are proud of our vibrant multilingual team of 58 full-time staff (as of December 2012) and a remarkably low 8% turn-over rate. We are committed to the well-being of our employees in every way. We are proud to be a multi-racial and faith employer. We actively support the ideal that there should be zero discrimination of people based on racial, religious, sexual orientation, disability, age or gender.
A social committee and budget is set up that organizes department and company-wide events. This is aimed at team building and generating a positive working environment. As a rapidly expanding company, we feel this is important for staff well-being and productivity. We have our own onsite employee restaurant and provide daily complimentary meals.
General Philosophy & Attitude
Company cars and sucking up to the boss does not play a role in our organization. We value and strive to do a great job by keeping our customers happy with the real deal – the best hotel room at the best price.
Of course we are here to make a profit. Our success is dependent on all the staff, not just the management team people and our mandate is treat everyone fairly, with respect – just as we want to be treated. We work hard, enjoy life, and are proud of our company and the service we provide.
A small, but important key point. Our growth is be based on what's achievable without compromising service. We enjoy and our passionate about our business and aim to be around a long time.
The Planet is Messed Up!
The planet is messed up! We do what is practical and feasible to ensure we do not impact the ecological problems that face us all. We do what we can to minimize our waste, power consumption, and maximize our recycling opportunities. We aim to deal with companies that also have a conscious. We are currently researching and working on our carbon neutral policy and trying to keep up to date on ways to keep us green.
