Just outside of the town of Billings are examples of prehistoric paintings, that have been painted on cave walls. Some of the paintings are thought to be over 3,000 years in age. The visitor center in the Pictograph Cave State Park has some exhibits that have been found in the area, found in Montana’s first major archeological dig site. For one of the best collections of paintings of the old west make your way to the Charles Russell Museum in Great Falls. Here one of the largest collections of such paintings in the United States is housed and stored . About a quarter of the works of art are by Charles Russell, with the remaining being from other similar artistes of the time, many depicting the cattle ranchers and native Indians that lived and worked in the area during the mid 19th century.
Great Falls - get back to nature at the Giant Springs State Park

He and his family home remains testament to the success of his dream, as one of the founders of the town of Kalispell. Tours around this impressive building are available from mid May through to mid October. The interiors are immaculately cared for and are absolutely stunning in appearance.
