Things to do in Estonia
Tallinn - climb to the top of St Olav's Church
St Olav’s church in Tallinn was once the world’s tallest building back in the 15th century and its tower still dominates the skyline of the town. A climb to the top of the tower is a challenge but the views over the town and old harbour are definitely worth the effort. The interior of the church reflects its old history back to the 13th century with gothic designs dotted around.
Tallinn - explore the Kadriorg Palace
The Kadriorg Palace has gone through a number of restorations since its original construction back in 1718 with the latest being as recently as 2000. Much of the Palace has been restored back to its original state and now also hosts the foreign art collection of the art Museum of Estonia. Take time to also wander around the spectacular gardens laid out on several different levels.
Introduction of Estonia
Once hidden to the world behind the Iron Curtain, Estonia has since exploded to become one of Europe's most attractive holiday destinations. Teeming with a wealth of cultural and historical attractions across the entire nation, Estonia is certainly worth the venture north. Hotels in Estonia are located across the country, particularly in the larger cities like Tallinn, Narva, Tartu and Parnu. Villas, hostels, lodges, retreats and five-star accommodations are available, depending on the destination. The precinct is famous for its medieval architecture, folklore legends, beautiful museums, and memorable castles. To the east of the mainland lay several hundred islands certainly worth visiting, including Saaremaa and Hiiumaa, the two largest islands. A unique blend of cultures can usually be found on many of the islands, as the area is rich in Swedish, German and Russian historical influences. It is imperative that the establishments are booked prior to visiting the country.
