Munnar Outskirts hotels map
Munnar, Outskirts intro. The hill resort of Munnar, set at the confluence of three rivers in southern India's Kerala State, is one of the most popular destinations in the region for the natural beauty of its surroundings. The Kundaly, Nallathanni and Muthirappuzha waterways meet in the valley, famous for its tea plantations and overlooked by craggy mountains and lush jungle-covered foothills. On the outskirts of town, 15kms away, is Eravikulam National Park, a haven for rare flora and fauna, with Anamudi Peak, 13kms from town, soaring 2,695m above sea level and great for trekking. Munnar is a favourite destination for eco-tourists as there are a number of protected wildlife areas, with many choosing to stay in Munnar hotels at the edge of town for the beautiful views and the peace of the countryside. Villas, guesthouses and even homestays are also on offer. The Atukkad waterfalls off Kochi Road and the sleepy traditional tea village of Chithirapuram, 10kms from the city, are both part of the charm of the region.
