Kayenta Downtown hotels map
Kayenta, Downtown intro. Kayenta, which is located in the US state of Arizona, is actually part of America's Navajo Nation. Hotels in Kayenta City Center are typically popular with visitors keen to enjoy the many sites of Monument Valley. The town itself offers a small number of attractions, such as small churches and several restaurants. Apart from its proximity to the great outdoors, the city's biggest attraction is likely to be the Navajo Code Talkers exhibit, where photographs, news articles and military equipment explain the critical role the Navajo played in World War II. The views from the city, as well as from the hills nearby, are impressive, but the feature attraction is Monument Valley. Highway 163 runs through the town, and following this north for about half an hour brings visitors to this amazing piece of nature. The approach to the valley is across vast flatlands, as the otherworldly shapes of the valley's huge sandstone buttes appear in the distance. Visitors have no lack of opportunity to soak up the sights and snap photographs of these towering stone edifices, some of which reach 300m above the surrounding countryside. The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is also relatively close and can be reached in about two hours.
