Tiberias Airport hotels map
Tiberias, Airport intro. The city of Tiberias is a popular tourist destination in the north of Israel. It sits on the western shores of Lake Kinnaret, better known as the Sea of Galilee. History and culture are two of the most important aspects of the city and the surrounding area, but the scenery is also superb. This is one of Judaism's Four Holy Cities. Hotels at Tiberias Airport offer excellent access to many nearby attractions, as well as an excellent base for those who have early or late flights. The primary sights of the city can all be reached on foot in many cases. The city's ancient cemetery has its roots in Roman times and contains the graves of both Muslims and Jews. The Tomb of Maimonides, also called Rambam's Tomb, is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Jews and attracts large numbers of tourists. The fish market is fun, colourful and an excellent place for photography. Berko Park, about 10 minutes to the south, contains the excavations of the Roman city. At the northern end of the old city is St Peter's, contains elements built by Crusaders in 1100. Hamat Tiberias National Park, a few miles to the south, contains a beautiful old synagogue.
