Tikehau Atoll Beach hotels map
Tikehau Atoll, Beach intro. Tikehau is a coral atoll paradise in the Pacific Ocean's Tuamotu Archipelago. It is located around 300kms from the better known Tahiti. The atoll rings a large lagoon which can only be entered via the Tuheiava Pass. Coral reefs surround most of the offshore areas and offer some of the best dive spots in the region. The sheltered lagoon is a great spot for those making their first dive. Manta rays and jackfish are among the fish found in the waters. The islets here have abundant palms, while the indigenous miki-miki bushes are the nesting grounds for diverse avian species. The shores of the atoll have thatched beach bungalows dotted along them. Many of these constructions house Tikehau Atoll Beach hotels. The principal grouping of accommodation is at the lovely pink-and-white sand beach near the town of Tuherahera. This beach is within walking distance of the island's airport. There are no cars on Tikehau, with rental bicycles the best option for exploring.
