Beqa Island Beach hotels map
Beqa Island, Beach intro. Renowned as the 'Island that Tames Fire', Beqa Island is one of Fiji's most illustrious holiday destinations. Located to the south of Viti Levu, the island is just 10kms from the coastline of Fiji's main island. The island is only small, but contains a steep, mountainous terrain that is fringed by a white, powdery coastline and beyond, a thick coral reef. Beqa Island Beach hotels are found along the entire coastline, but more so on the western and southwestern edges. It goes without saying that the beaches of Beqa Island are the most appealing sites for tourists to stay. Beaches like Naceva Beach, Raviravi Beach and Rukua Beach are just some of the wonderful spots to enjoy sunbathing, swimming or snorkelling. From the beaches, tourists can go deep-sea game or reef fishing. The beaches of Beqa are also popular places to begin scuba diving trips. The waters surrounding the island are crowded with reef and other species of shark, adding to the appeal. Tourists can find plenty of scuba diving schools and tours on the island. Away from the water and beaches, the island boasts a famous 'fire-walking' clan called the Sawau. Visitors should leave this activity to the experts, but viewing the spectacle is certainly recommended.
