Ulundi intro. Ulundi, the capital of Zululand, is one of the most important cultural and historic towns in South Africa. This friendly bustling town has a welcome vigour not seen in many other South African hamlets. Tourism is a major reason for the prosperity and relative happiness here; the town boasts several museums and airport among its amenities. Ulundi hotels come in many forms, from traditional Zulu lodges to posh five-star resorts. Military historians will appreciate the site of the final battle in the Anglo-Zulu War, while cultural fans will certainly want to visit the mythological Valley of the Kings, where the kings of ancient Zulu are said to be buried. Check out Ondini, the reconstructed royal residence of Zulu King Cetshwayo and the on-site KwaZulu Cultural Museum just outside town. There is a very good tourist infrastructure in this multi-cultural town, with plenty of choices for eating, shopping and sleeping. If visiting Zululand, be sure and stop over for a couple of nights in this charming place.
